A National Priority
Climate Change is a National Priority of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Northern New Mexico Climate Change Corps (The CCC) was created to respond to this challenge through a $1 million grant from the Hispanic Serving Institutions Education Grants Program of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
The original CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) was created in 1933 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to employ Americans in the conservation of our nation’s natural resources.
In a similar spirit, the Northern New Mexico CCC increases the number of graduates who are ready and able to face the challenge of Climate Change.
Many of the students we serve are first generation college students and many are Hispanic.
